(V-0.0.31) Projectiles and Cleaning












This week's progress was middling and I got a little bit sidetracked first because of my new UI system not being finished and second because I had to clean up the code for my projectiles before moving forward. The UI issue is being caused because all my UI is in a array (basically a little storage box) and I take UI out automatically, but if I try taking out more than I put in at the start the program crashes. The projectile issue is that I have been repeating code for whenever something should be shooting a bullet and the time has come to pack it into a function before moving forward. I also fixed a few small bugs like always...
Next week the plan is only two things I want to work on the art that will represent the game, and make the base game play feel as good as possible. I am thinking for the art I want to reference the og doom box art, so I want my character with the arm canon fighting off enemy's with a cool planet in the background, not sure how I will make the games title look yet but there's no rush for that. For making the game feel better I need to make it so everything reacts as much as I can, from jumping to hitting enemy's and most importantly I need player progression to feel good.
Today it snowed and its hard to describe how good it feels to not be plowing snow (we got fired from our last accounts lol) I have been forced to plow snow since I was a child, I can remember being left alone at some gray office building to shovel for hours before my father would come back from plowing other places to pick me up, having to ride in the sander and throw salt by hand because the sander was always broken, having to work all night because people will complain and sue if its even a little icy or snowy, I wont ever miss it.
To Do List
-add text for all interactable objects
-player cant fit through 1 gap
-chest have a bug
-make weapons more understandable
-Make electrode rifle projectile more noticable
-Get rid of magic numbers
-fix automatic text and UI maker to not go out of array
-combine enemy projectile movement with player collision to avoid going through array twice

-all this effort and the issue was me moving dead enemies before spawning projectile

-enemys will new be moved up if the spawn inside a tile, not a good solution but I can make it better fast later

-started fixing enemies spawning in walls
-text and buttons will eventually cause crash as they are, will fix later
-fixed issue with text not being cleared with buttons

-fixed hard crash caused by text was incrementing the text I use without ever resetting it

-game crashing for some reason/seems to have something to do with text?
-chest should no longer spawn on top of each other
-chest randomization improved
-added a new state to tiles for when something is on them
-deleted a bunch of old code
